John Macintyre

John and Louise Macintyre

The Senior Pastor is John Macintyre.

John and Louise (a midwife at John Hunter) have 4 adult children.
The Macintyres came to Newcastle in 2000 believing the city needs more good Bible based churches. Prior to starting at Grace Presbyterian Newcastle (formerly known as St Philips/Surfside) they planted Tamworth Community Presbyterian Church in country NSW.

They are excited about how the Lord has grown Grace Presbyterian Church and love the team of elders and pastors they are working with.
A graduate of both Moore Theological College and NSW Presbyterian Theological Centre, John has seen the powerful results of God's word the bible in people’s lives.
He feels the ideal church not only focusses outwards with the great news of Jesus but helps people in the church family as they grow in maturity. Christians should not only speak the truth people need to hear but live positive life encouraging others.

John has a passion for church planting having now planted 2 churches and sponsored 2 other church plants. John recently researched church planting movements and approaches to church planting and helped design the NSW Presbyterian approach to church planting.

John gets excited about Jesus, family, football (That's the soccer variety of the beautiful game) and surfing.

Wayne Durand

The Pastoral Assistant is Wayne Durand.

Wayne is married to Kristy and they have 2 children.

The Durands have called Newcastle home since 2004 and have been a part of Grace Presbyterian Church since that time.

They are filled with the joy that it is to connect with God and His People, to grow in maturity and love through His Word and Spirit, and by fellowship with their brothers and sisters in Jesus, to serve God and His people through Sunday services, music, small groups, and children’s ministries and, to go locally and globally to speak and act the truth of the Gospel.

Wayne is excited that the Bible says that God loves to be praised through singing and accompanying music (e.g., Psalm 150, Ephesians 5:19). He loves to sing, play guitar or bass guitar and is currently learning the drums.
